Cackleberries Christmas Recipes

From now until Christmas, The Cackleberries Team will be offering Christmas Recipes.  We will highlight some of our favourite seasonal snacks and festive foods. 

For today’s recipe, we present Cackleberries Cranberry Apple Pie.  Good Luck and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 6 large Golden Delicious Apples
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen Cranberries
  • 2 Tablespoons of Orange Juice
  • 1/2 cup of White Sugar
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup of Flour
  • 2 tablespoons of Butter
  • 1 - 9 inch unbaked double pie crust

Directions

  1. Peel, core, and cut each apple into 8 wedges each
  2. Combine the apples, cranberries and orange juice into a large mixing bowl
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the large and cover the apple/cranberry mixture
  5. Pour the contents into the pie crust pie crust
  6. Dot with butter
  7. Cover with the top pie crust,  flute the edges and cut slits in the top crust
  8. Bake the pie at 425 degrees for 10 minutes
  9. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown
  10. Cool on a wire rack
  11. Serve & enjoy!
