Christmas Recipes Series: A Simple Christmas Gingerbread House: Making it and Putting it Together

HOW TO MAKE AN EASY CHRISTMAS GINGERBREAD HOUSE
Ingredients 
Dough
- 6 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 2 sticks of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of dark brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons ground ginger
- 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups of molasses
Icing
- 3 egg whites (whipped until frothy)
- 5 cups of powdered sugar (slowly add to egg whites)
Directions
- Put all ingredients into a mixer and blend together thoroughly
- After mixing, place ingredients in the fridge for 1 hour
- Find a template of a house to use (try finding one online and printing it off the internet)
- Roll out dough onto a floured surface to about 1/4th to 1/8th of inch thick
- Place the template on top of the rolled out dough and cut the dough to shape
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Once the dough is cut to shape, transfer it to a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees
- Make Icing (whip 3 egg whites until frothy, then slowly add 5 cups of powdered sugar)
- Transfer baked dough to a cooling rack and allow to cool thoroughly
