Susan Jarema is excited to be part of the Cackleberries team. A mother of two, she became passionate about early numeracy and literacy and creating a love for learning. Susan believes that parents and educators can influence creativity, thinking skills and life learning by encouraging these abilities at a young age. Susan was raised in a family of entrepreneurs in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She spent several years selling radio and print advertising, while completing her Marketing Degree at the University of Manitoba. After a year traveling the world, she co-founded As You Like International Shopping Service Ltd., one of the earlier “fair trade” companies. The aim of the business was to help village cooperatives in developing countries market their crafts in North America. Sales were generated via home parties, mail order and an extensive wholesale network. In 1999 Susan moved to British Columbia to complete her MBA at Simon Fraser University. Subsequently, she spent several years teaching business at SFU and Douglas College. She also held various positions within the Douglas College Self-Employment Program. She built her first website in 1996. She recognised the power of the internet as an online learning tool and developed Googol Learning. Googol Learning and creation of the award-winning Googol Power Math Series allowed Susan to share her passion for creativity and early learning. In 2008 Susan founded a web marketing company to promote ethical companies and non-profits. Susan has now joined Cackleberries to help share her passion for early education and to help create a better world for our children.
